Sunday 21st June 2015 - Knott End

The sixth match of the year was fished this morning at Knott End, low water was around 9:30 and the match was fished from 9:00 to 12:00.

Once again the weather gods were not smiling on us and we were greeted by a blustery wind and cold conditions with the odd shower at the start of the match.

Personally fished just up from the wooden jetty with fish from the start, unfortunately undersized, this was followed by an eel and a small flounder these were the only in sized fish I managed although I did catch a further 4 undersized flounders!!!

Two rods up from me, the winner of the match did not have a fish in the first hour but then came good with 5 flounders all of decent size to finish the match with 88 points and getting his team into 2nd place on his own.

Best fish of the day fell to Steve Clark fishing near the wooden jetty who managed to catch a Plaice of 42cm (approximately 2lb) on peeler crab.

Main bait was peeler crab (although lack of fresh bait did mean several anglers using frozen)  as well as shellfish.

Next match is the 26th of July at Fairhaven 9:30 to 12:30 with an alternative venue of Lytham for those that do not want to make the walk to low water.

Sunday 31st May 2015 - Stannah

Well 5th match of the Blackpool Federation League today and when we got there at 7:30 we were again met by rain and windy conditions and looking at the weather forecast we were not expecting it to get any better . 

Match was fished 8:30 to 11:30 with high water at 10:25. 
 
All anglers were using peeler crab and most bluey or mackerel for tipping. 

I fished just up from the pylons opposite where the old Wardle's Creek pub used to be. Started off OK with a flounder on second cast and then odd fish continued throughout the match with a decent eel just before high water. Finished the match with 4 flounders and an eel for 168cm (75 points on conversions we use). 

One of the lads further up from me was going well even though he was complaining at the start of the match he ended up catching 15 flounders (10 in size) for 303cm (134 pts) fishing small pieces of crab with larger pieces of bluey. 

Winner of the match came from further up river on the bend 10 flounders for 329cm (179 points).

The lads fishing the creek end did not catch in the first hour with fish coming on just before high water.

The good news was that the high winds and the heavy rain that was forecast did not arrive so we only got slightly damp
